Session VPWN01: Saturday, 10:00 - 4:00pm; February 27

This class will teach you what you need to know to shoot a professional looking video. Topics will include auto vs. manual settings, composition, camera angles, shooting for post-production, white balancing, basic lighting, microphones, tape formats, audio recording techniques, mixers and more. Students are encouraged to bring their own cameras.

Learn all about this extremely popular, professional level, nonlinear editing application. Topics: preferences, audio/video settings, log & capture, the Browser, Viewer and Timeline, transitions, Composite Modes, color keying, markers, NTSC safe color correction, animation, and sequences. Also learn about Overwrite, Insert, Superimpose, Replace and Fit to Fill edits, as well as the Roll, Ripple and Slip tools. Students will assemble a commercial. Class limited to 3.

Advanced Final Cut Pro

Learn advanced features in Final Cut Pro such as LiveType, Compressor, advanced special effect and color correction filters, advanced animation, advanced titling, Traveling Mattes, DVD and web export, and much more. Class limited to 3

This new class for 2010 covers topics like FCP audio and video filters in depth, advanced codecs, HD formats, advanced graphical generators, voice over recording, render and media managers, the frame viewer, audio mixer and much more. Class limited to 3

Basic Adobe After Effects CS4
Session AEWN01: Wed & Thurs, 6-9:00pm; Feb 10, 11

This class will illustrate the basic workings and capabilities of After Effects. This program is extremely popular for creating complex multi-layer video composites with sophisticated motion, scale & opacity control. Learn about After Effects extensive keying, animation and special effects. Topics include: working with high-res. images and Photoshop files, keyframing, Bezier motion paths, alpha channels, masks, chroma keys and more. Class size limited to 3 people. Demonstrated on a Macintosh system, though applicable for Macintosh or Windows.

Advanced Adobe After Effects CS4
Session AAWN01: Wed & Thurs, 6-9:00pm; April 7 & 8

This new class for 2010 covers advanced animation and layering techniques like rotoscoping, 3D layers, text animation, Flash output, generators, audio and image filters and much more. Class size limited to 3 people. Demonstrated on a Macintosh system, though applicable for Macintosh or Windows.

Prerequisite: Basic Adobe after Effects or comparable experience.

* Basic computer skills include opening a file from within a program, and the ability to click, double click and mouse down & drag with a mouse. Also, student should have experience opening and saving files from within a program and have the ability to navigate to different folders. Please note that classes labeled "basic" are not basic computer classes, but rather introductions to a specific program and assume you have the above skills.
